FAQ

Common questions.

What is a Unix timestamp?

A Unix timestamp counts elapsed seconds since January 1, 1970 at 00:00:00 UTC, excluding leap seconds.

Is my timestamp in seconds or milliseconds?

Most 10-digit present-day timestamps are seconds. Most 13-digit timestamps are milliseconds. This converter detects either format.

Why do local time and UTC differ?

They represent the same instant. Local time applies your device timezone and daylight-saving rules, while UTC uses a zero offset.

Does this converter account for my timezone?

Yes. The local result uses the timezone configured on your device; the UTC and ISO results remain timezone-independent.
